You Are Invited to a Webinar on Law Enforcement in Ape Range States Featured

29 May 2019 News from Ape Allies

The Arcus Foundation and Legal Atlas invite you to join us in a live webinar presenting the first-ever global research addressing the legal protections of apes in their range states. This data has the potential to significantly enhance the efforts of those working to eliminate the illegal wildlife trade. In this discussion, we will:

1. Present a new, interactive online platform showing the legal frameworks that govern the international wildlife trade, including many of the legal tools available for law enforcement and prosecution.
2. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses in those frameworks, as well as suggestions on how to maximize the use of these tools.
3. Examine the legal protections afforded species at the national level, as well as the applicable forms of liability and penalty.

Join us to learn about the results of this research and the new platform designed to facilitate a better understanding of the legal protection for apes in their jurisdictions to enable evidence-based action.

The 70-minute webinar will be held June 4, 2019 at 12:00 pm Jakarta (WIB), 6:00 am Kinshasa (WAT), and 1:00 am New York City (EDT). A Question & Answer period will follow the presentation. We also invite you to share this invitation with colleagues and relevant networks whom you believe would benefit from the information and conversation. Registration is required.
