Winchester Science Festival

22 July 2016 (Fri)

Winchester Discovery Centre, Jewry Street, Winchester, SO23 8SB

Winchester Science Festival weekend takes place from 22-24 July 2016 in the Winchester Discovery centre. It will be a guaranteed fun day out. There will be a number of speakers over the three days including world-renowned conservationist Ian Redmond OBE. He will be drawing on four decades of research with gorillas, starting as an assistant to Dian Fossey, Ian passionately argues why we must protect these and other species such as elephants because of their important impacts on ecosystem processes that we, even in the industrialised countries of the north, depend on.

There will also be a presentation for vEcotourism and a chance to try out some virtual reality headsets transporting you to the natural habitat of the apes that the Ape Alliance is desperately working to protect.

Over the lunch break starting at 12:30 there will be a showing of Climb for Kilimanjaro Climate Action in which four leading conservationists including Ian debate and discuss climate change whilst climbing the highest mountain in Africa.
