IPPL Conference

The IPPL Conference will be held between 13-15 April, click here for their website.

Speakers will include:

Sirajul Hossain; Bangladesh, talking about the hoolock gibbons and monkeys of Bangladesh. Sirajul is a prominent wildlife photographer and was recently in the Sunderbans, the home of the famous man-eating tigers and lots of monkeys.
Noga Shanee, Neotropical Primates; Peru, will talk about the group's campaign to save the endangered yellow-tailed woolly monkey.
Franck from JACK; a sanctuary for monkeys and chimpanzees in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Andrea Donaldson and Keith Thompson of the Colobus Trust; Kenya, who raised a baby colobus monkey named Betsy and work on building bridges across the high-speed Diani Highway.
Ofir Drori; Cameroon, who investigates international smuggling in Cameroon and several other nations.
Bob Ingersoll of Mindy's Memory Sanctuary and star of Project Nim.
Keri Cairns; UK, will speak abouth the mokey trade in Cambodia, which he recently investigated, and abuse of orangutans at safari parks in Cambodia and Thailand.
Deb Durham; USA on "What does primate psychology have to do with primate protection?"
Michael Budkie; USA, primate abuse in research.
Dr. Olatunji Olatundun; Nigeria, invited, attendance not confirmed due to Visa not being issued yet.
Dr. Tunju works with the Drill Ranch, Nigeria, and Limbe Wildlife Center, Cameroon.
Helen Thirlway and Dr. Shirley McGreal will discuss IPPL activities over the past two years and the appalling primate trade
Other speakers may include Edwin Wiek and his wife Hansaeng Sangnanork (Noy). Edwin's sanctuary was recently raided by Thai wildlife officials who carted away 103 animals including 33 gibbons and 47 monkeys.

The Plantation Singers will perform southern gospel music after dinner on Friday night, including "Amazing Grace" and "When the Saints go Marching In".

Registration includes two dinners, two lunches and staff-prepared refreshments. All food is vegetarian.
