SCHERZY NOT: Nicole Scherzinger slammed by PETA after bottle-feeding a chained lion and playing with orangutans on quad bikes

NICOLE Scherzinger has incurred the wrath of an animal rights charity after she bottle-fed lions and played with orangutans placed on quad bikes at a Dubai zoo.
The 39-year-old visited the zoo where Princess Sheikha Latifa Al Maktoum's animals are kept and which has been described as “shoddy” and accused of treating animals as “playthings”.
A PETA spokesperson told The Sun Online: “Putting lions on leashes and orangutans in clothing promotes the idea that wild animals are here for humans to use for amusement and to do with as they please, rather than to be left in peace.
“We'll be writing to Nicole to urge her to stay away from these shoddy facilities that treat animals as living 'playthings' and to support rehabilitation programmes that work to protect wild animals in their natural habitats - where they belong.”
The X Factor judge was seen walking a chained tiger, playing with an orangutan who was dressed in a pair of shorts and a vest top, as well as some others dressed up and riding a toy car, at Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum zoo.
It appears that celebs are slow to learn about the treatment of animals in captivity as last month Stephen Bear was blasted for bottle-feeding a tiger at a controversial Thai zoo.
The Shipwrecked and Ex On The Beach star, 28, came under fire from fans and animal rights campaigners PETA for the "disgusting" clip and photo he has posted of himself with the captive animals at Sriracha Tiger Zoo.
The zoo, which is around 97km from Bangkok, was the subject of an undercover BBC investigation last year.
The BBC Three documentary, Undercover Tourists, discovered cubs being kept in small cages on the premises and adult tigers forced to perform in circus shows.
PETA slammed the ex-boyfriend of Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby.
Elisa Allen, Director of PETA UK, told the Sun Online: "Out of touch? If Stephen had searched #TigerSelfie on Instagram before posting these photos, he couldn't have missed the alert explaining the cruelty inherent in such animal attractions.
"Wild tigers are held captive and bred so that their babies can be used as photo props in money-making schemes.
"The cubs are often snatched from their adoring mothers when they're only days old so that they can be passed from one stranger to another all day, every day, often without adequate food, water, or rest.
"Once they grow too large and dangerous to handle, they typically end up locked away in tawdry circuses or roadside zoos.
"We're writing to Stephen to explain all this – and to urge him to delete these photos and refuse to patronise attractions that treat animals as selfie accessories rather than the sensitive living beings they really are."
