Hope4Apes Event Success

01/01/2011

With an air of dignified charm, Sir David Attenborough took to the stage to a large round of applause. Taking us through the night, Sir David invited the 5 speakers; Ian Redmond OBE, Chanee (Aurelien Brulé), Dr. Birute Galdikas, Dr. Jane Goodall, and Dr. Jo Thompson, to talk about their specialist species and the work that they have been doing to ensure future conservation of the Great Apes.

From mating rituals of Bonobos to Sir David and Jane Goodall giving imitations of chimpanzee calls, the talks were exciting, captivating and thoroughly informative, giving a very privileged audience a great night.

During the interval, live music was played and raffle tickets were sold by the hundred, the first prize being an opportunity to see one of the five Great Apes in the wild.

During the night, over £32,000 was raised, to help all of the projects that Ape Alliance and Hope4Apes supported; including the Lum Nam Pai Gibbon Release Project, the Great Apes Film Initiative, Bonobo: Lukuru Wildlife Research Project, TCRC and Belantikan Forest Project (Orangutan Foundation).

Many thanks to all of the volunteers who helped take part in this fantastic event, and to all the speakers and to Sir David Attenborough for hosting this memorable event.
