Job Title: Media and Communications Director**

Location: London, UK

Reporting to: Chief Executive and Campaigns Director

Holidays: 4 weeks, plus 4 days Christmas-New Year office closedown

Closing Date: 10th February 2012

Job Type:

Management level; budget control; primary media contact; media relations; monitoring of key messages and external communications; management of publications, websites staff; maintenance of media profile of Animal Defenders International, the National Anti-Vivisection Society and the Lord Dowding Fund.

Duties include:

* Devise and execute media campaigns and launches for worldwide group.

* Promotion of ADI speakers to the media.

* Maintains 7-day media contact service

* Management of breaking news; crisis management; statements.

* Celebrity supporter liaison and development.

* Internal briefings for media representatives.

* Key message development.

* Communication of accurate campaign information, internally and externally.

* Event management. 

* Liaison with external agencies, e.g. printers, couriers.

* Management and administrative; budgets, reports, media logs, etc. 

Qualifications and Qualities: 

* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.

* Min. 5 years public relations experience in agency or similar role.

(Management experience required for Director role)

* Good IT/internet skills.

* Multi-tasker, good organisation and time-management skills.

* Excellent communication skills - written, oral and presentation.

* Self motivated, commitment to achievement of objectives.

* Flexible, positive approach to work; responds well to demanding environment.

* Team player, supportive of others.

* Vegetarian preferred.
