Timber Policies

Logging truck, Cameroon - www.PhotoIanRedmond.co.uk

The illegal commercial bushmeat trade is out of control and threatens the survival of great apes and other endangered species. Timber companies, many of them European owned, facilitate this trade by putting roads and vehicles into remote forests, providing access for commercial hunters and transport to supply urban bushmeat markets, and by allowing their workers to flout the law.

The Forest Stewardship Council independently certifies forests as being managed in an environmentally responsible way.

Vow that you will only buy hardwoods that have been stamped with a Forestry Stewardship Council certification.
