4) H.E. President of Gabon.

5) President of Indonesia.

We have recently learned that Indonesia’s President Abdurrahmad Wahid (who prefers to be called Gus Dur), is planning to make a visit to Tanjung Puting National Park (TPNP) sometime in the immediate or near future. This would be a good time to write to President Wahid to show your support of the orangutans, the Orangutan Foundation International (OFI), and the work that Dr. Galdikas and OFI are doing to help preserve TPNP and the orangutan species. It should be a letter that is positive in tone but points out the threats (illegal logging and mining) that continue to impact the orangutans and other wildlife in the Park. You should politely request that he support and strengthen actions that help protect the Park and its wildlife. Also mention that you and many other people throughout the world value places like TPNP.

President Gus Dur Abdurrahmad Wahid
("Dear President Gus Dur")
