World-renowned conservationist Ian Redmond OBE and Chris Draper from the Born Free Foundation will join representatives from the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) and Twycross Zoo, for a lively debate chaired by Liz Bonnin, following the recent BBC Horizon investigation into the zoo industry.
The debate will revisit the contentious issues raised in the BBC’s flagship science programme, and unravel the very latest scientific research surrounding keeping large animals in captivity. In light of the shocking death of gorilla Harambe in the U.S, and recent headlines around the world, the discussion will also ask whether zoos need to change to keep up with modern science or ultimately be consigned to history.
